Tampa Bay’s Wednesday Racing

Wednesday’s nine race card starts out the racing week in Oldsmar with fast and firm footing. The first Post time is scheduled for 12:14 PM.

Horsemen and fans alike are looking forward to Saturday’s Festival Day program, to be highlighted by this year’s edition of the $400,000 Tampa Bay Derby.

Tampa Bay Downs has live Thoroughbred racing every Wednesday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday (except Easter), until closing day on May 7.

Today’s play is in Race 5, Post time is 2:13 PM. A full field of older Fillies and Mares will try to graduate at mile on the sod, under $25,000 Maiden Claiming conditions.

STARSHIP BELMONT (5) showed potential back on January 15, finishing third in her debut with Maiden Special rivals on the local lawn. The figure earned in that outing is enough to win here. She showed early pace ability, leading to the stretch. This daughter of WAR DANCER (WAR FRONT) drops into claiming company for the first time for veteran trainer Anthony Ferraro. Up and coming apprentice jockey Madeline Rowland will ride with a seven pound allowance. She has given a good account of herself in her rookie season, winning eight races from fifty-two mounts (15%). A decent price at 7/2 on the Morning line.

THE BET:  $20 to win on STARSHIP BELMONT (5) $20. Also, a $5 exacta box ($10) with that one and NEW WAYS TO DREAM (6) 5,6. Then a $2 exacta box ($12) with those two and FANTASTIC RAFAELA (2) 2,5,6 Total Bet $42 GOOD LUCK 

PREVIOUS RESULTS:   3/6/22;  Had the winner and exacta. Collected $28 on the win and $25.20 on the exacta. A profit of $25.20 on the $28 total bet. The bankroll is now $982.30 from the $1,000 start.
