The dirt track is listed as Fast and the turf is listed as Firm for Friday’s nine-race card at Gulfstream Park.
First post time is 2:00 p.m. The first, fifth, seventh and ninth races are scheduled for turf.
Skies are clear at Gulfstream as of 11:45 a.m.
However, the Weather Channel forecast is for a 50 percent chance of rain during racing hours–when it is expected that Tropical Depression Fred will begin to impact the Miami-Fort Lauderdale area.
From Friday night through Saturday afternoon, the forecast is for rainfall of up to six inches–even the center of Fred likely will be in the Gulf of Mexico.
The Saturday card has eleven races scheduled, with first post at 12:50 p.m. The featured tenth race is the Benny the Bull Stakes, at seven furlongs on Florida-breds that are 3-YO and up.
Later this afternoon, our blog will have additional reports on the racing and the weather at Gulfstream.
