No Word Yet on Gulfstream Saturday Racing As Tropical System Moves Across Florida

Saturday, Sept. 12–Rain has been falling for several hours and wind speed is picking up at Gulfstream Park this morning as Tropical Depression 19 moves across the southern end of the Florida Peninsula.

 As of 8:00 a.m., the center of the storm was 25 miles west, southwest of Miami and was moving west at 9 MPH. The depression currently has winds of 35 mph, and is expected to become Tropical Storm Sally later Saturday.

Gulfstream has eleven races scheduled for Saturday and ten races scheduled for Sunday, with first post at12:00 p.m. each day. The Saturday card has five races scheduled for turf on Saturday and one race scheduled for turf on Sunday.  There are no stakes races scheduled either day.

As of 9:45 a.m., Gulfstream had not made an announcement about track conditions or about any cancellations for Saturday. 

Gulfstream is in Hallandale Beach, Fla., about halfway between Miami and Fort Lauderdale. 

Forecasts for the Miami-Fort Lauderdale area are for a 100 percent chance of thunderstorms and winds exceeding 15 miles per hour throughout Saturday  and for a 40 percent or higher chance of thunderstorms during most of Sunday.
