Gulfstream: Two Carryovers on Friday Card

HRFLA Staff Report

Gulfstream Park will have two carryovers on its Friday race card.

The Hallandale Beach, Fla., track will have nine races, with first post of 12:00 p.m.

The first race will have a Super Hi-5 carryover of $2,675. The race is a $10,500 maiden claimer at 1 1/16 miles on turf for fillies and mares 3-YO and up.  The purse is $19,000.

The Super Hi-5 is a $1 minimum bet that requires picking the first five finishers in correct order, with no consolation payoffs such as four of five.

The Rainbow 6 has a carryover of $149,870. The 20 cents per combination-only bet will be on races four to nine, with the sequence scheduled to start  at 1:30 p.m.

Gulfstream has guaranteed that the Rainbow 6 pool will be at least $250,000 if there is just one ticket with all six winners. That is the requirement for taking down the Rainbow 6 jackpot of the full carryover plus 80 percent of the day’s new Rainbow 6 bet (20 percent takeout).

On Thursday, each ticket with the winners of all six Rainbow 6 races won $8,275.04 on a 20 cent bet. HorseRacingFLA’s review of Equibase charts shows there were six such tickets.

Program numbers of the winning horses were 6-2-5-6-1-9.

There were  no betting favorites among the winners–thus leading to the low number of winning tickets.

Odds on the winners ranged from 2-1 to 11-1.

Bettors added $88,709 to the Rainbow 6. Of that, Gulfstream took out 20 percent, divided 56 percent among the tickets with six winners and added 24 percent to the carryover that is now five race days old.

*On Saturday, Gulfstream will have eleven races with first post of 12:00 p.m.

On Sunday, it will have ten races with first post of 12:00 p.m.

There will be no stakes races either day.

The Condition Book showed the $60,000 Escana Stakes on Saturday.

It was listed for 1 1/16 miles on dirt for fillies and mares 3-YO and up. Apparently, it did  not draw enough entrants for Gulfstream to run it.
