GP On Sunday: Mandatory Rainbow 6 Payout

HRFLA Staff Report

Gulfstream Park on Sunday Aug. 9 has a highly publicized mandatory payout on its Rainbow 6–regardless of the number of tickets with all six winning horses.

The Rainbow 6 pool likely will be above $6  million. It will consist of the entire carryover of $1,137,735 plus 80 percent of today’s bets on the Rainbow 6 (20 percent takeout).

On non-mandatory days, Gulfstream makes that payout only when there is just one ticket with all six winning horses.

Based on previous mandatory payout days, it is likely that $5 million or more will be bet on the Rainbow 6.

First post is 12:00 p.m. for the 11-race card, with conditions listed as Fast and Firm.

The Rainbow 6 is on races six to eleven with the sequence set to start at 2:34 p.m.  It is a 20 cents per combination-only  bet.

The featured tenth race is the $60,000 Dayatthespa Stakes, at 1 1/16 miles on turf for fillies and mares 3-YO and up.

On Saturday, there were 22 tickets with all six winning horses in the Rainbow 6.

Each won $8,472.56 on a 20 cent bet.

Per its rules on non-mandatory payout days, Gulfstream  took out 0 percent of the day’s Rainbow 6 bet.  It then divided 56 percent among tickets with all six winners and added 24 percent to the carryover.

Program numbers of the winning horses were 7-5-6-6-9-9.
