Tampa Bay Downs Takes Monday Races Off Turf; Seventh Race is RadioStPete/HRFLA Feature

Due to wet conditions from recent days’ rains, there wlll be no turf racing at Tampa Bay Downs on Monday.

First post is 12:25 for an eight-race card.  The third ansd difth races were scheduled for turf. They have been moved to the dirt track that is listed as Good.

This is the second of four straight weeks when Tampa Bay  will have racing on Mondays and Wednesdays.

 

The carryover on the Ultimate Pick 6 is $31,784.  The 20-cents per combination-only bet is on races three to eight, with the sequence scheduled to start at 1:25 p.m.

Tampa Bay will again be racing with no spectators, and thus no on-track betting, as it complies with government  guidances on limiting the number of persons at public events amid the coronavirus (COVID19) pandemic.

The seventh race is the RadioStPete/HorseRacingFLA race of the day.

Internet station RadioStPete https://radiostpete.com/ will carry track announcer Richard Grunder’s live call.  Bob Bauer, HFLA associate editor and handicapper, will have pre-race and post-race commentary.

COMMANDER OF DEATH (7) has a beneficial  early pace advantage in Race 7, a mile and forty yards for three and up Fillies and Mares under $8,000 NW3L claiming conditions. Post time is scheduled for 3:25 PM.

Expect this sophomore filly to go on the lead right out of the gate under regular rider Jose L. Riviera Jr., who has guided her to victory twice earlier this season. She has only gone around two turns once before, finishing second by a nose. Should make amends today.
