Gulfstream Park’s 11-race Friday card is headed toward the sixth race, with scheduled post of 3:45 p.m.
It will be the start of the Rainbow 6 with a carryover of $1,223,520.
On Saturday, Gulfstream will have a guaranteed payout of the Rainbow 6 jackpot–regardless of the number of tickets with all six winning horses.
If the carryover continues into Saturday, it likely will be above $1.4 million. Gulfstream history indicates that in that situation, bettors will put $5 million or more into the Rainbow 6–a 20 cents per combination only bet.
Saturday’s card will have twelve races with frst post of 12:45 p.m. The Rainbow 6 will be on races seven to twelve with the sequence scheduled to start at 3:49 p.m.
The jackpot consists of the entire coming-in carryover, plus 80 percent of the day’s new Rainbow 6 bets.
On “non-mandatory” days Gulfstream pays out the jackpot only when there is just one ticket with all six winning horses.
On days with multiple winning tickets, Gulfstream takes out 20 percent of the new bet, divides 56 percent among winning tickets and adds 24 percent to the carryover.
*Saturday’s card will include the $75,000 Sunshine Forever Stakes at 1 1/16 miles on turf. It will be the first race of 2020 for War of Will, the winner of last year’s Preakness Stakes (Grade 1).
