The special Monday Presidents Day card is underway at Gulfstream Park.
It is Gulfstream’s fifth annual day for locally stabled horses with a format similar to the national Claiming Crown for which it is the site early each December.
The Monday card has a Rainbow 6 carryover of $866,689. The 20-cent per combination only bet is on races six to eleven with the sequence scheduled to start at 3:04 p.m.
.The sixth race is $50,000 allowance at five furlongs on turf for 3-year olds.

The other races are all stakes with purses of either $50,000 or $60,000. They are restricted to horses that have run at or below designated claiming prices at least once in their careers.
The stakes races have names that are nicknames of former U.S. presidents or references to U.S. first ladies.
An example is the tenth race–the $60,000 Rail Splitter at 6 1/2 furlongs on dirt for 4-year-olds and up.
It is named for Abraham Lincoln. The eight-horse field has several entrants that have run in non-claiming crown like stakes at Gulfstream.
Because Gulfstream is holding a rare Monday race card, it will not have live racing this Wednesday. Feb. 19.
