Gulfstream Park will host a special holiday racing card today, on Martin Luther King Day.
Ten races are scheduled with a first post time of 12:35 PM EST. The last post will go off near 5:10 PM.
Gulfstream management has again ‘stepped up to the plate’, and announced a guarantee dollar amount on the Rainbow 6 wager of $4 million.
The carryover on Sunday’s racing close was $3,020,200. That’s the jackpot that would be paid out from the prior racing carrovers since the meet began back on November 29th, 37 race days ago. The closest to a jackpot winner was on that opening day, with 2 winning tickets, and on New Year’s Day, when 4 lucky bettors collected $67,649 each.
Today’s $4 million guarantee applies to today’s racing only. The extra money ($979,800) will be removed if the jackpot is not hit. Still, it’s showing that Gulfstream is placing their own bet that they expect significant wagering today on the Rainbow 6.
The other carryover today will be the Super Hi 5 wager, with $8,162.27 up for grabs. The Super Hi-5 wager is a $1.00 minimum bet to correctly have the first 5 finisher horses in order.
