Gulfstream Calls off Sunday and Monday Cards; Will Have Racing Saturday, Including Stakes

Friday  Aug. 30 –Gulfstream Park announced today it has cancelled its live racing programs for Sunday, Sept. 1 and Monday, Sept. 2 as Hurricane Dorian approaches the east coast of Florida.


Gulfstream also announced its entire facility – including the Casino at Gulfstream and The Village at Gulfstream Park – will be closed beginning midnight on Saturday, Aug. 31 until further notice.

           

 Gulfstream will conduct its live racing program Saturday, Aug 31 including the $400,000 FTBOA Sire Stakes.

            Horsemen stabled at Gulfstream Park 

and its satellite training facility Palm Meadows in Palm Beach County have been told they may stable at whichever facility they feel more comfortable depending on the track of Dorian.

            “The health and welfare of our employees, our equine athletes and our customers are always our priorities,” said Gulfstream’s Vice President Bill Badgett. “We are closely monitoring the storm and are in constant contact with our horsemen in Florida.”

            Gulfstream will also be used if needed as a staging area for Florida Power & Light, Hallandale Beach Police and the City of Sunny Isles Police.
