Sunday’s Gulfstream Card; 1:10 Post, Off-Turf Expected

Gulfstream Park begin day 80 of this meet and  will host a 12 race card Sunday, with a first post time of 1:10 PM, and a sure bet that rain will hamper the handicapping.  Hallandale expects a 20-75% chance of rain during racing hours. No stakes races are planned.

On the carryover news, the sole carryover today will be the Rainbow 6 at $1,768,553. That will start in race 7 at approx. post time of 4:07 PM. Fifty-three entries are listed, but will be lower with the off-turf scratches no doubt.

Saturday saw 113 starters, with 58 in the Rainbow sequence (races 8-13). Six favorites won on the day, with races 11 and 13 showing 11:1 and 20:1 winners.

Fourteen bettors collected $25,518 each on the winning 20-cent Rainbow wager, as 58 starters competed. The outlier, like Friday, was the last race where Red Fog (19.6:1) won.

Bettors added $649,622 to the Rainbow 6 pool Saturday, and Gulfstream paid $363,788 – to the 14 bettors.

The late Pick 4 paid $2,181 on the minimum 50 cent bet.
The late Pick 5 paid $3,992.

Total handle was huge at $15.2 million.
