Gulfstream Park Rainbow 6 Carryover Tops $2 Million

The Rainbow 6 carryover at Gulfstream Park is 25 race days old and has grown to $2,062,710.

That carryover / jackpot will be up for grabs again on Friday.

First post is 1:15  p.m. for  a ten-race card. The Rainbow 6 is on races five to ten, with  the sequence  scheduled  to start  at  3:30 p.m.

The jackpot / carryover consists of the entire carryover plus 80 percent of the day’s  new bets on the Rainbow six (20 percent takeout).

Gulfstream  pays it out only when there is  just one ticket with the winners of all six Rainbow 6 races.

On Thursday, there were 830 tickets with all six winners.  Each was paid $260.44 on the 20-cent only bet.

Thursday’s wagering on the Rainbow 6 was $386,165.

Per  its  rules on days with multiple  winning tickets Gulfstream took out 20 percent of the day’s bet, divided 56 percent among tickets with six winners and added 24 percent to the  carryover.

The program numbers of the  six  winning horses were 5-3-9-3-6-2.

The payoff was relatively low because four winners were favorites and the other two had odds of 7-2.

Gulfstream has seven race days left in its 2018-2019 Championship meet, which ends on Sunday March 31.

A state law prohibits a pari-mutuel from extending a carryover into a new meet.

Thus, Gulfstream on or before March 31 will need to schedule a mandatory Rainbow 6 payout of the carryover  / jackpot even if there are multiple tickets with the winners of all six Rainbow 6 races.

If there is no single ticket winner prior to mandatory day, the carryover we esstimate could be $3 million or larger that day.

Good Luck and thanks for reading.
