On Saturday, the G.P. West meet will run nine stakes races – all with $75,000 purses and all restricted to Florida breds. First post is 12:00 p.m. for the 11-race card.
*On Friday, there was a single jackpot winner of the Rainbow 6, which paid a tidy sum of $71,152. The pool was $43,718, of which 80% was added to the Thursday carryover of $36,187. The 12th race proved a tough handicap where a 13:1 odds horse – Gran King of Kings – bested the 12 horse field. Sammy Camacho rode for trainer Victor Barboza, Jr.
There were 54 starters Friday. The winning combination was 8-3-6-3-4-9. Three winners were favorites. The late Pick 4 and Pick 5 paid $1,478 and $6,929 respectively.
So the carryover starts anew Saturday on the Rainbow 6. The Super Hi-5 will have a $1,111 carryover in the first race to run 7 or more starters.
