Gulfstream Park West enters Saturday with its 4th day of live racing this meet ending November 25th.
Post time will be 12:50 PM ET, probably so the last race gets in before the sun dips too low (5:55 pm post). There are four turf races scheduled (#1,5,7,9), and a couple two-year-old races – 4th and 8th races. 100 entries are listed, and 64 in the last 6 races: Rainbow-6 (#5-10); Pick-5 (#6-10). The 5th race kicks off the Rainbow 6 at 3:00 PM, and the carryover will be $11,987.
Surprisingly, the Friday’s grass held up well, and no off-turf races were held. That 9 race card yielded decent late Pick-5 and Rainbow 6 payouts of $2,218 and $3,345 respectively. We show 3 winners of the Rainbow 6, who’s highest odds winner in those 6 races was Trio of Champions at 7.5:1 in race 4.
Nonetheless, the field size of 40 starters in the Rainbow was just very low. This is normal for this meet, as the Northern track horses are not yet here to run.
There was just one day in last year’s Fall G.P. West meet with over 100 starters, so Saturday’s 100 entrants is certainly an improvement for the field sizes and perhaps betting interests. The total all-souces handle was $2.621 million Friday.
