The Gulfstream Park West meet will run live racing on Monday, Oct. 8, the Columbus Day holiday.
First post will be 1:15 p.m. for the 10-race card at Calder in Miami Gardens.
Monday’s racing will feature 90 starters, and 5 turf races (#2,4,6,8,10), along with two dirt track two-year-old races (#5,7). In our post on Sunday, we did not expect much hoopla on the day’s wagering. We stand corrected. The 10 race card yielded two long shot winners in the Late Pick 5 and Pick 6 bets. The Rainbow 6 jackpot was hit for $48,707 and the Late Pick 5 paid $13,932. A 16:1, 13:1 and 12:1 winner in the sequence whittled down the winning ticket holders to just a single.
The Super Hi-5 wager does have a carryover today of $1,738 in race 1. There was just one race run Sunday off the turf (#1), and six scratches among the 10 races.
The regular live schedule is Wednesday through Sunday at Gulfstream Park West.
