Gulfstream Park West will host an 8 race card Wednesday, with a first post of 1:15 PM ET. The impending hurricane Michael will have very little impact on the South Florida weather today. Sixty-six starters are expected on the card, with 51 of those in the Rainbow 6 sequence of races #3-8. The Wednesday carryover is $4,754 on the Rainbow 6.
Gulfstream ran 10 races on Monday, Columbus Day, where 87 starters hit the oval track.
The late races did not yield much of a big surprise. The high-odds winner in the late Pick 5 and Pick 6 bets was Cool Dixie Man at 7:1, a two-year-old maiden who won by a nose. The late Pick 5 paid a tidy $6,671, while the Rainbow 6 paid just $399 on 5 of 6, because no ticket had 6 of 6. That does not occur too often. Perhaps smart money is gravitating to the Pick 4 and Pick 5 wagers now. We’ll watch if that’s a trend.
