GP West Sunday Card: Ten Races, Two Carryovers

The Gulfstream Park West meet, held at Calder, will have a  ten-race card on Sunday with first post at 1:15 p.m.

The first race has a Super Hi-5 carryover of $3,119

The carryover on the Rainbow 6 is $6,228.  It will be on races five through ten with the sequence scheduled to start at 3:26 p.m. The six races have 69 entrants, including Main Track Only and Also Eligible.

There are  no stakes races on the card. The eighth and ninth race co-features are allowance optional claimers with $42,000 purses.

Here are highlights from  Sunday’s ten-race card:

* The Late Pick 5 (races six through ten) had a carryover of $20,288. That was a consequence of no tickets with all five winners on that bet on Friday’s card.

Bettors on Saturday added $95,698 to the Late Pick 5 pool.

The payoff for five-of-five was $324.10 on the minimum 50 cent bet.  There were an undetermined number of winning tickets.

Three of the winners were favorites.  Odds on the other two winning horses were 6-1 and 5-2.

Program numbers on the winning horses were 6-2-5-2-3.

*On Friday there was just one winning ticket on the Rainbow 6, and it paid $23,222.80 on the 20-cent only bet.

Bettors put $25,965 into a new Rainbow 6 pool.

There were 55 tickets with all six winners, and each was paid $263.46.

GP West took out 20 percent of the Rainbow 6 bet, divided 56 percent among winning tickets and put 24 percent into the new carryover.
*It was the second Saturday and tenth day  of the 40-day  GP West meet that  will end Nov. 25.

Total handle was $4,244,494.  That was the second highest of the meet–trailing the $5,348,336.

On the second Saturday of last year’s GP West meet, total handle was $4,926,936.
All three Saturdays had ten races, with none taken off the turf.
