Gulfstream’s Sire Stakes, 14 Races – First Post High Noon !

Gulfstream Park’s closing weekend of the summer meet is upon us.

Saturday’s race card includes 14 races, with first post at 12:00 PM ET. After Sunday, racing will shift to Gulfstream Park West for 9 weeks (early December), then return. The third and final leg of the Sire Stakes is planned for Saturday, with 9 stakes races – all but races 1,3,5,7,12.

There are two popular carryovers today; the Super Hi-5 on race 1 with $5,893, and the Rainbow-6 with $109,719 up for grabs.

We expect spirited wagering on the Rainbow 6 today, as Sunday will dictate a mandatory payout of the pool and carryover – no matter the number of correct wagers. Friday’s action saw 6 of 9 races won by the favorites, but a nice $3,701 payout on the Rainbow bet. Escape Velocity was the long-shot at 10:1 in the 5th race to increase the winnings to 10 lucky patrons.

Saturday will be a tougher wager on the late multiple race bets – Pick 4, Pick 5 – because the chance of scratches will be low in the stakes races, and the field size is near 70 now on the last 6 races (it was 54 starters Friday).

In summary, do enjoy your day at the track if you attend. We’ll be on-site to watch the racing and report to you our thoughts along the way! Thanks for your reading us this summer. Pass our site along to friends who would enjoy Florida thoroughbred racing also.

Good Luck !
