Gulfstream Park will host a 12 race card on Saturday, with a 15-25% chance of rain during racing hours. Five turf races are scheduled – races 1,5,7,9,11. Thirty-one tw0-year-olds race across 4 races also.
The 122 entrants could make for a difficult handicapping day, with 68 of them in the Rainbow 6 races (7-12), and 56 entrants in the Late Pick-5.
We don’t think the jackpot is large enough yet to attract syndicate betting, so some long-odds winners should produce a nice payout. Easier said than done.
On Friday, many odds-favored horses crossed the wire to win; 4 of them in the Pick-6 sequence. That resulted in a small payout of $555 on that wager. The $75,000 pool for the rainbow was decent for a weekday in September. The sole carryover is the Rainbow 6 at $154,834 today.
The Rainbow 6 kicks off at 3:50 PM or so, while the Late Pick 5 starts with race 8 at approximately 4:22 PM.
