Gulfstream Saturday; Stakes – Wet Weather Expected

Saturday’s racing card at Gulfstream Park gets underway at 12:45 PM ET, with 12 races scheduled. The weather will no doubt play a big factor in that rain and thunderstorms are forecast during the race day. Watch for the early races to be off-turf.

Friday’s rain was so bad in the last two scheduled races that race 10 was cancelled as visibility was near zero. This messed up the wagering, in that ALL horses were included in the late wagers – so multiple winners reduced the payouts big time!

The Rainbow 6 paid just $413.06, while the Pick-4 and Pick-5 paid $9.70 and $247.40 respectively; pauper’s wages for sure.

The feature ninth race Saturday is the $75,000 Panama City Stakes at one mile on turf for Florida-bred fillies and mares 3-years-old and up.

The rainbow 6 will continue with a $10,436 carryover Saturday; the only carryover of the day. It will commence on race 7 at about a 3:50 PM post time.
