Gulfstream Park will resume live racing on Thursday with ten races and first post of 2:00 p.m.
It will be the first of five straight race days at Gulfstream.
The Hallandale Beach track usually races Thursday through Sunday during its summer meet.
It will add a race card this coming Monday Sept. 3, which is Labor Day.
The weekend highlight will be on Saturday, with the two second leg races in the annual Florida Sire Stakes Series for 2-year-olds.
On Thursday, Gulfstream will have a Rainbow 6 carryover of $24,847. It will be on races five through ten, with the sequence scheduled to start at 4:00 p.m.
On Sunday there were 40 tickets with all six winning horses in the Rainbow 6. Each of those tickets received $686.84 on the 20-cent only bet.
Bettors put $48,847 into the Rainbow 6 on Sunday.
Per its rules on days with multiple winning tickets, Gulfstream took out 20 percent of the day’s bet, divided 56 percent among tickets with six winners and added 24 percent to the carryover.
On Friday, Gulfstream will have nine races with first post of 2:00 p.m.
Weekend Stakes Races
Saturday’s races in the Florida Sire Stakes Series are the $200,000 Affirmed for 2-year-old males and the $200,000 Susan’s Girl for 2-year-old fillies.
Both races are seven furlongs on dirt.
The Sire Stakes series are sponsored by the Ocala-based Florida Thoroughbred Breeders’ and Owners’ Association.
The Sire Stakes races are restricted to sons and daughters of Florida-based stallions whose owners have nominated them for the series.
On Saturday, Gulfstream also will have two turf races for 2-year-olds.
The $100,000 Sharp Susan is for fillies and will be run at what Gulfstream calls “about 7 ½ furlongs.”
The $100,000 Proud Man is for males and also will be about 7 ½ furlongs.
Both races are open to horses bred in any state. But they are “Florida preferred” in that the Florida Horsemen’s Benevolent and Protective Association is offering bonuses of up to $25,000 in each race for Florida-breds that finish first, second or third.
The two races are part of the Spring/Summer Stakes series, all with $100,000 purses, sponsored and funded by the Florida HBPA and by Gulfstream.
Entries for Saturday’s races will be out on Wednesday afternoon.
For this Sunday, the Gulfstream Condition Book shows the $75,000 Wasted Tears Stakes, a1 1/16 miles on turf for fillies and mares 3-years-old and up.
For Monday, the Condition Book shows the $75,000 The Vid at 1 1/16 miles on turf for 3-year-olds and up.
