There was just one winning ticket on the Rainbow 6 at Gulfstream Park on Thursday, and it paid $69,256.40 on the 20-cent only bet.
A key to the Rainbow 6 being “taken down” was a win by 80-1 shot My Chinumado in the ninth race—the second-to-last race in the sequence. None of the other Rainbow 6 winning horses were higher than 8-1.
The numbers of the six winning horses were 4-7-4-5-2-3.
Gulfstream will begin a new Rainbow 6 pool on Friday.
First post will be 2:00 p.m. for a nine-race card. The Rainbow 6 will be on races four to nine, with the sequence scheduled to start at 3:30 p.m.
Thursday was the third day for the latest Rainbow 6 carryover—and it was $24,847 coming into the day.
Bettors added $55,536 to the Rainbow 6. The winning ticket collected 80 percent of the day’s bet, plus the entire carryover.
On days with multiple winning Rainbow 6 tickets Gulfstream takes out 20 percent of the day’s Rainbow 6 bet, divides 56 percent of it among tickets with six winners and adds 24 percent to the carryover.
My Chinumado’s win also led to a big payoff in the Late Pick 5—and apparently just one ticket with all five winners.
The amount bet was $46,978, with a 15 percent takeout.
The payoff for the minimum bet of 50 cents was $29,948.35.
Tickets with four of five winners were paid $42.75.
Thursday was the fourth time in the last fourteen race days that there has been just one winning ticket in the Gulfstream Rainbow 6.
That supports our view that early in the carryover cycle is the time to play the Rainbow 6 if your goal is to be the only winner rather than being content to be among multiple winners.
Our review of Equibase charts shows that Rainbow 6 betting grows significantly when the carryover rises above $200,000.
Then, it appears that more betting syndicates and heavy betting individuals known as whales increase their Rainbow 6 wagers.
That includes going ALL in some races.
At that point, the chances of there being multiple tickets that included My Chinumado would generally have been higher than they were on Thursday. That would have lessened the chances of there being just one winning Rainbow 6 ticket.
