Stakes-Filled Tampa Bay Derby Day is Saturday; Coverage Here and on RadioStPete

Tampa Bay Downs on Saturday will have its annual Festival Day with the $400,000 Tampa Bay Derby (Grade 2) and four other stakes races.

First post is 12:12 p.m. for the 12-race card at the Oldsmar, FL track.

The Tampa Bay Derby is the 11th race with scheduled post of 5:20 p.m.  It is 1- 1/16 miles on dirt for 3-year-olds and is a points scoring race for the 1 ¼ mile Kentucky Derby (Grade 1) that will be run May 5 at Churchill Downs in Louisville, Ky.

From Friday evening through Saturday night we will have extensive coverage on this Web site, with previews and results.

This will include live reports by HorseracingFLA associate editor Bob Bauer for our radio partner, Internet station Radio St. Pete On Saturday afternoon, HorseracingFLA editor Jim Freer and business manager Barry Unterbrink will join Bauer in providing real­­­­­-time coverage of the Tampa Bay Downs races on our blog, which can be accessed on the menu bar at the top of the home page of this Web site.
