Gulfstream: Holiday Fireworks All-Around

HorseRacingFLA Staff Report

Gulfstream Park will begin Tuesday with some potential tote board fireworks from a Super Hi-5 carryover and will end it with its annual 4th of July fireworks show.

In between there will be two $100,000 stakes races.

First post is 1:15 p.m. for an 11-race card. Conditions are listed as fast and firm.  The Weather Channel forecast is for a 15 percent chance of rain during racing hours.

In the first race, there is a carryover of $13,534 on the Super Hi-5 which requires picking the first five finishers in correct order with no consolation payoffs.

Based on past experience with overnight carryovers, it is possible that more than $100,000 will be bet on the Super Hi-5 in the first race.

The carryover on the Rainbow 6 is $31,401.  It is on the sixth through eleventh race.

The special Tuesday card has two $100,000 turf stakes.

The Martha Washington is one mile on turf for 3-year-old fillies. It is the third trace. The Not Surprising is one mile on turf for 3-year-old males.  It is the tenth race.

Both races are Florida preferred.  That means they are open to horses bred in any state.  Bonuses are available only for Florida-breds.

The races are part of a new series of $100,000 stakes, sponsored and funded by the Florida Horsemen’s Benevolent and Protective Association and by Gulfstream.

We will have coverage during the afternoon on our blog which may be accessed on the menu bar at the top of the home page of this Web site.

The Gucci Grand Illusion Fireworks will begin in the infield at 9:30 p.m.  Admission for the fireworks show is free.

A grab giveaway in which everyone is a winner will be held at the west side of the walking ring 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. with prizes ranging from betting vouchers, Gulfstream Park swag, programs, Ten Palms buffets and race wagers.

Fourth of July buffets will be offered at Ten Palms 12-4 p.m. and 6-9 p.m. each for $29.

A live performance will be held in the North Tiki Area 6:30 p.m. to 9 p.m. and a DJ will entertain in the walking ring 6-9 p.m.
