Gulfstream Off the Turf on Wednesday

 HorseRacingFLA Staff Report

Racing is off the turf at Gulfstream Park on Wednesday.

First post is 1:15 p.m. for a nine-race card.

Gulfstream has moved the first, second, fourth, fifth and ninth races to the dirt track that is listed as sloppy.

The surface switch follows five days of rain in the Miami-Fort Lauderdale area—most notably Tuesday when Gulfstream was dark.

The carryover on the Rainbow 6 is $698,499. It is on races four to nine.

The feature eighth race is the $50,000 Liza Jane Handicap, at 6 ½ furlongs on dirt for 3-year-old fillies.

The likely favorite in the seven-horse field is R Angel Katelyn—a winner of three stakes races at Tampa Bay Downs and one stakes at Calder (Gulfstream Park West).

Edgard Zayas will ride R Angel Katelyn for trainer Gerald Bennett.

We will have coverage during the afternoon on our blog, which can be accessed on the menu bar at the top of the home page of this Web site.
