Tampa Bay Downs continues the fun this Saturday with another big day as it hosts two stakes races on the 11-race card. beginning with the first post at 12:25 pm.
The first stakes race is the $50,000 Minaret, at six furlongs on dirt for fillies and mares 4-years-old and up. It is the eighth race, with scheduled post of 3:55 p.m.
The $100,000 Pelican is six furlongs on dirt for males 4-years-old and up. It is the tenth race with a scheduled post of 4:55 p.m.
Leading jockey Daniel Centeno has been named to ride favorites in both races. He has the mounts on You Bought Her, at morning-line odds of 5-2 in the Minaret, and on Futile, at morning line odds of 3-1 in the Pelican.
You Bought Her, trained by David Hinsley, is seeking her third straight Minaret win. Southern Ring, Mines and Magic and No Fault of Mine loom as top challengers.
Futile, trained by Arnaud Delacour, has won four of five career starts. The Pelican will be his stakes debut.
He is coming off an impressive win at Tampa Bay on Jan.15, in a $100,000 optional claimer at six furlongs.
Futile won by a length over Tiger Blood, with Springmeier finishing third by another three-quarters of a length. Both of those horses are in the Pelican.
Another win candidate is Schivarelli, whose record includes second place finishes in two stakes at Churchill Downs.
