Tampa Bay Begins Three Thursdays of Racing

This afternoon, Tampa Bay Downs will have the first of its three consecutive Thursdays of racing.

First post time is 12:55 p.m. for an eight-race card.  The Oldsmar track also has racing on Wednesdays, Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays.

Gulfstream Park has a ten-race Thursday card, with first post of 12:35 p.m. Bay

The carryover on Gulfstream’s Rainbow 6 is $10,771, on races five through ten.

Starting Wednesday, Gulfstream has reduced the minimum bet on its rolling Pick 3s from $1 to 50 cents.RAFEB8958_300x125_Pick-3

There are no stakes races on Thursday at either track.

On Saturday, Gulfstream and Tampa Bay will both have three graded stakes races.

The feature at Gulfstream will be the $500,000 Gulfstream Park Turf Handicap (Grade 1).  It is 1 1/8 miles for four-year-olds and up.

The highlight at Tampa Bay will be the $250,000 Sam F. Davis (Grade 3) at 1 1/16 miles on dirt for three-year-olds.  The first four finishers will earn qualifying points (10-4-2-1) for spots in the Kentucky Derby (Grade 1) on May 6.
