HorseracingFLA Staff Report
Requite and My Miss Venezuela were gate-to-wire winners of the co-feature races on Saturday’s Summit of Speed Preview day at Gulfstream Park.
Requite won the $75,000 Parrot Key Stakes for 3-years-old and up. My Miss Venezuela won the $75,000 Sea Lily Stakes for fillies and mares 3-years-old and up.
The Parrot Key, Sea Lily and Saturday’s five other stakes were previews for stakes on the Summit of Speed at Gulfstream on July 2. Later today, we will have reports and analysis of the Parrot Key, Sea Lily and other Sunday stakes.
There are no stakes races on Gulfstream’s Sunday card. But it has attractive carryovers on the Super Hi-5 and on the Rainbow 6.
First post is 1:15 p.m. for the ten-race Sunday card.
The dirt track is listed as fast and the turf course is listed as firm. According to the Weather Channel, there is a 15 percent chance of rain in the Hallandale Beach area where Gulfstream is located.
We will have coverage on our blog.
The carryover on the Rainbow 6 has grown to $244,233.85.
The 20-cent per combination only bet will be on races five through ten. The carryover has been growing because Saturday was the 18th straight day without the carryover/jackpot-paying requirement of just one ticket with the winners of all six races.
On Saturday there were 75 tickets with all six winners, and each paid $710.08.
There were no winning tickets on the rolling Super Hi-5 on Saturday’s 12th and final race.
Thus, there is a carryover of $4,161.75, and it is scheduled to start with Sunday’s first race.
The Super Hi-5 requires picking the first five finishers of a race in correct order. If there are no such tickets, the pool of new bets plus any carryover rolls into the next race with seven or more starters. There are no consolation payoffs, such as four of five.
When there is an “overnight” carryover at Gulfstream, bettors have ample time to handicap—and often combine to put $50,000 or more into the Super Hi-5.
Sunday’s first race is a $10,000 claimer at one mile on turf for fillies and mares 3-years-old and up.
It has seven entrants listed for turf. As of 10:00 a.m. there were no scratches.
If the Super Hi-5 keeps rolling over, it should be noted that each of the day’s races has ten or more entrants.
