Bozzo and Flutterby Seek gold Mover win; Rainbow 6 Carryover at $323,000

Gulfstream ParkStaff Report

Saturday, Aug. 22 — This afternoon at Gulfstream Park, Jerry Bozzo and his star filly Flutterby will attempt to add to their 2015 feel-good story.

Flutterby is the likely favorite in a seven-horse field in the $75,000 Gold Mover Stakes at six furlongs on dirt for fillies and mares 3-years-old and up.

Flutterby earned a place in history for the 94-year-old Bozzo on May 30 when she won the 6 ½ furlong Sea Lily Stakes at Gulfstream.

The victory made Bozzo the oldest trainer to win a stakes race in U.S. thoroughbred racing history. He also is the breeder and owner of the 4-year-old Flutterby.

In her only race since the Sea Lily, Flutterby finished second by 1 1/2 lengths to Merry Meadow in the six furlong Princess Rooney (Grade 2) at Gulfstream on July 5. Luca Panici rode Flutterby in both races and has the mount again today.

The late-running Celebrity Star could be the biggest treat to the speedy Flutterby.

On May 30, Celebrity Star won the 6 ½ furlong Sunrise Stakes at Gulfstream. Manny Aguilar will ride her for trainer David Kassen.

Gulfstream will have eleven races today with a first post time of 1:15 p.m. The Gold Mover is the fourth race with scheduled post of 2:54 p.m.

There is a $323,857 carryover on the 20-cent per combination only Rainbow 6 on the sixth through 11th races. Gulfstream has guaranteed that there will be a payout of at least $500,000 if there is just one ticket with the winners of all six races.

Gulfstream pays out the full Rainbow 6 pool (day’s bets plus carryover) only on days when there is just one ticket with all six winners. On other days, Gulfstream divides 70 percent of the day’s Rainbow 6 bets among the multiple winning tickets and puts 30 percent into the carryover.

Gulfstream has gone 21 racing days without a Rainbow 6 jackpot winner. On July 16 there was one winning ticket that paid $164,483.32.

Wagering on the Rainbow 6 was $108,779 on Friday. It is likely that $150,000 or more will be bet on the Rainbow 6 today.

On Friday, there were three Rainbow 6 tickets with all six winners. Each paid $20,300.86
