Gulfstream: Off the Turf Today, Rainbow 6 Has Carryover of $88,711

 HorseracingFLA Staff Report

Due to rain, Gulfstream Park has moved today’s five scheduled-for-turf races to the main track which as of 11:15 a.m. was listed as good.

First post for the ten-race card is 12:35 p.m.

There will be a carryover of $88,711 on the Rainbow 6 on the day’s last six races.  The sequence begins on the fifth race, with scheduled post of 2:35 p.m.

The fifth and tenth races are the only two in the sequence that were scheduled for turf. As of 11:15 a.m. five of the fourteen entrants in the fifth race and ten of the sixteen entrants in the tenth race had been scratched—primarily because of the switch in surfaces.

Thus, there are no more than nine entrants in any of the Rainbow 6 races.  That could make it less difficult than usual to hit the bet, which is 20-cents only per combination with multiple horses permitted in each race.  For example, a ticket with two horses in each race has 64 combinations and costs $12.80.

The feature eighth race is six furlongs on dirt for 4-year-olds and up.  It is a $35,000 optional claimer with a $46,000 purse.

City of Weston, Blame Jim and Dreaming of Neno are likely favorites in the seven-horse field.  We will have a preview this afternoon on our blog.
