Tampa Bay and Gulfstream Resume Racing Today, Coverage on Our Blog

Gulfstream Park and Tampa Bay Downs will begin their race weeks today.

First post times are 12:27 p.m. for nine races at Tampa Bay and 12:35 p.m. for ten races at Gulfstream.

Gulfstream has racing Wednesdays through Sundays. Tampa Bay has racing Wednesdays, Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays.

*Fear the Cowboy, coming off a stakes win at Gulfstream Park, is literally a horse to be feared by rivals in Wednesday’s feature race at Tampa Bay Downs.

It is the second race, with scheduled post of 12:57 p.m. There are seven entrants for the allowance/optional claimer, with a $24,000 purse, at one mile and 40 yards on dirt for 3-year-olds and up,

It will be one of nine races, with a first post of 12:27 p.m., at the Oldsmar track.

Fear the Cowboy, a 3-year-old colt, will make his first start since Sept. 22 when he won the Three Chopt Road Stakes at seven furlongs at Gulfstream.

*Three of today’s Tampa Bay races are scheduled for turf.

The chance of rain is just 20 percent in the Tampa Bay area. That makes it likely that Tampa Bay Downs’s good fortune with the weather will continue.

It has averaged three turf races per day in seven race days since Nov. 28 and has not had been forced to move any off.
